Newport Beach
Perched on the edge of the magnificent Pacific Ocean, Newport is a dynamic, warm community with active fishing, tourism, scientific, and arts communities. It is home to Oregon’s largest fishing fleet, miles of sandy beaches, and a number of fantastic tourist attractions, including the Oregon Coast Aquarium and the famous sea lion docks. A visit to Newport during your stay on the Oregon Coast is always a staple; but remember that its nearly 3 hours away from Seaside, and its definitely a trip that deserves a full days commitment. See some of the main attractions by clicking the links below:
Astoria
With Victorian-era homes etched into hills overlooking the Columbia River, this picturesque settlement (the oldest west of the Rockies) is a port city with Scandinavian flavor. Surrounded by forests, boasting three rivers and situated a stone’s throw away from the Pacific, Astoria is a fishing village-meets-Victoriana, chockablock with forts, museums and great local brews. Astoria is a quick 30 minutes from Seaside and perfect for an afternoon getaway. Visit some of our favorite staples while you're there:
-Cargo-Purveyors of Curious Objects
-Doe & Arrow- New & vintage clothing, accessories, and vinyl

Cannon Beach
Haystack Rock towers on the shoreline. Waterfalls cascade onto the sand at Hug Point. Marine life peeks out at low tide. It’s no wonder National Geographic listed Cannon Beach as one of the 100 most beautiful places in the world in 2013. The city’s many art galleries, restaurants, boutiques and oceanfront lodging can easily keep you coming back for more. Cannon beach is a short 15 minute drive from Seaside, which makes it the perfect neighboring town to visit while you're here. If you get a chance to visit, be sure not to miss these coastal favorites:

Pacific City & Cape Kiwanda
Cape Kiwanda at Pacific City may be one of the Oregon Coast's best kept secrets. The breathtaking views from the top of the dune are worth the steep climb to the top; and while the most dangerous parts of the cape are fenced off, you can sit right at the edge of the sandstone bluff for one of the best views on the Oregon coast. The tawny sandstone escarpment of Cape Kiwanda juts half a mile out to sea from Pacific City and frames the north end of the beach. After a long day of climbing, Pacific City offers a variety of fun things to do and eat while you wind down. The best part is that its only a 30 minute drive from Seaside!
